Job Announcement: Violin/Viola Instructors

Community Music Center - Portland Parks & Recreation (CMC) seeks qualified violin & viola instructors, traditional and Suzuki, for teaching youth private lessons (ages 4 – 18) at the Community Music Center in the 2017-18 school year. Days of work are weekdays after school and Saturdays, hours subject to enrollment, beginning in October, 2017. Saturday availability is a priority. Wages up to $34 per hour depending on education, training, and experience.

The position requires knowledge and experience in violin instruction to individuals, skill in teaching multiple ages and experience levels, skill in communication, and ability to be punctual, dependable, and work as part of a team.

Job duties include: developing lesson plans & curricula related to area of assignment based upon overall program objectives & guidelines; preparing materials for instructing lessons; monitoring participation & evaluating student progress; and consultations with students’ parents/guardians as needed.
