Family Friday Feb. 20
Old music and fresh popcorn on this concert for the birds

Oregon Renaissance Band returns on Friday, Feb. 20 to feature music inspired by our feathered friends, including Janequin's "Le chant des oiseaux", Byrd's "The Battell", Senfl's "Das Gläut zu Speyer" (The Sounds of Speyer), and Isaac's "A la battaglia" on voices and a myriad of period instruments including recorders, renaissance violin, viol, sackbutts, krummhorns, dulcian, krummhorns, racketts, tartold, lute, and more. Each instrument is introduced and played, demonstrating the most curious sounds to spring from the Renaissance and makes for a very lively evening!

The Oregon Renaissance Band is a 10 to 12-member ensemble dedicated to performing and recording music of the Renaissance on faithful reproductions of historical instruments, many of which were built by the performers. They have presented concerts and workshops since 1991 and has been featured on NPR's "Performance Today". Directed by Philip Neuman and Gayle Neuman. Other members include Daphne Clifton, Kathryn Richer, Andy Harris, Ben Fitch, Cindy Markham, Polly Gibson, David Bryan, Lori Fitch, Hideki Yamaya, and Sharon Cheney.

The short one-hour concert with no intermission starts at 7:15 pm, and is free with suggested donation of $5 per person or $15 for families. With inexpensive snacks and no 'shushing' allowed, the event is ideal for families with young children. More info.

How do we sound to you?

Tell us how you think, and you may win two Portland Center Stage tickets!

A research study is underway to help CMC better communicate to the public. Please help the project and CMC by completing a brief online survey to say how well CMC does informing you about events, acknowledging donations, and providing other helpful information to you.

If you take the survey and enter your email address by Friday, Feb. 27, you could win a pair of tickets to Portland Center Stage remaining productions in the 2014-15 series or new shows in the 2015-16 season. Your responses will be completely confidential and combined with many others; we will not see individual results.

No purchase necessary to win the PCS ticket prize; selection will be made from optional email addresses provided on the survey. Valued at $160 (no cash redemption value). Winner picks up vouchers at CMC then remits them through Portland Center Stage for the desired show (pending seat availability). Vouchers expire 6/30/16.

Thank you (and Portland Center Stage!) for your support. We look forward to hearing from you.
